Fix Wii Disk Read Errors Easily,
My younger brother owns a Wii and plays it almost every day. As one would expect, it takes quite the toll on the electronics, especially since it is sitting in an entertainment unit that traps some heat. I eventually got a phone call that the Wii is reporting disk read errors, and since I am a computer engineer, my brother felt that I should take a look at it since he didn’t want to pay 80 dollars for Nintendo to deal with it since he is out of warranty.
In any event, I ordered one of these replacement lens kits, along with a triwing screwdriver. The overall install took me about 20 minutes start to finish, but mind you that I have had plenty of electronics experiences. After the install, I put everything back together, fired up the Wii, and all was well.
I would say that the install difficulty is rather easy. You just really want to take your time, and be aware of the components. The ribbon on these replacement parts are actually quite sturdy, so dont be too afraid to actually work on the Wii.

|Solved the Problem,
We could not play our Wii for more than a few minutes without being told to eject the disc, power off, and start over. The Wii still overheats occasionally, but it is extremely rare. The new laser did the trick. Replacing it is not a trivial matter, but anyone with a modicum of mechanical skills can do it.
