Post subject : ACSM gives thumbs up to EA Sports Active
In news that will not surprise regular users of EA Sports active, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has given it the thumbs up, saying it does provide an effective form of exercise.
Of course we should take it with a little pinch of salt as their study was commissioned by EA.
They tested 16 people between 25 and 45 years old with a couple of routines. Apparently EA Sports Active met the ACSM guidelines that a workout keeps your pulse at 64-94% of maximum, has you use 40-85% of your maximal oxygen consumption, and burn 200-300 calories per session, which is pretty good.
If, like me, you’ve used EA Sports Active for any serious amount of time you’ll know it can be effective, it really helped me restart my weight-loss and everyone here who’s used it has seen good results. It’s still good to have (semi) independent confirmation – far too many people assume that because it involves a games console it can’t possibly be real exercise, which is like saying following an exercise video can’t work because it involves the TV.
